A booth of a mail-order furniture magazine in the annual exhibition of Tokyo Designers Week. All installation booths were requested to be built using shipping containers. Two types of shipping containers were provided. Containers in good condition premised on reutilization, and containers just before disposal. The fee for using containers on the eve of disposal was cheaper. We chose to use the cheaper container, and made countless holes on it. Our goal was to achieve a simple subtraction design. As one peeps through the holes, furniture showcased also on the magazine, could be seen symmetrically placed in pairs. Each furniture were made slightly different from one another. After enjoying a three dimensional “spot the difference”, visitors were led to go through the magazine to find out the article number. In doing so, we succeeded in drawing the visitors’ interests to the magazine.
